The working principle of a single-point load cell in belt scales and conveyor belt scales is based on accurately measuring the weight of the material passing through the conveyor system. Here's how it works:
Weight Measurement: The single-point load cell is mounted beneath the conveyor belt, typically where the belt is in contact with a support. As the material passes over the belt, the load cell measures the force exerted by the weight of the material.
Force Conversion: The load cell converts this force into an electrical signal. The amount of force detected is proportional to the weight of the material.
Speed Measurement: A separate speed sensor detects the speed of the conveyor belt. The combined information from both the weight measurement (from the load cell) and the speed measurement (from the sensor) is used to calculate the total weight of the material passing through the system.
Continuous Monitoring: As the material moves along the conveyor, the load cell continuously measures the weight and sends real-time data to the control system, allowing continuous monitoring and accurate measurement of the material flow.
